Happy Halloween! Jack Skellington Nails

Happy Halloween!

I actually really dislike Halloween but I really enjoy the nail art! And my students pretty much love Halloween so I'm getting into the spirit with them today! We, as a staff, have decided to dress like our boss today, so it should be a funny day! Not to mention the sugared up kiddos I'll be sending home at the end of the day! Muah-haha!

Despite my hatred of Halloween, I really love The Nightmare Before Christmas. So, seeing millions of Jack Skellington nails around online inspired me to give them a try!

I began with a base of Zoya Purity. Once that was totally dry, I put striping tape over my nails vertically. I polished China Glaze Liquid Leather over the tape and pulled it off so that it looked like Jack's suit. Next, I used a dotting tool to add different sized ovals to my accent nail. Finally, I used my black striper to draw two nostrils and a stitched smile! Have a safe Halloween! Enjoy! :)

BCA Nimbus Nails

Today I have my final set of Breast Cancer Awareness nails! I love dedicating my pink manis for the month of October to awareness and to those whose lives have been affected by Breast Cancer.

For my final set today, I did Nimbus nails, created by The Nailasaurus. She has a great tutorial on her site and I used that to create this look! I began with two coats of Zoya Purity on all of my nails. I then "nimbused" Zoya Seraphina and Gaia onto my accent nail. Zoya Lara, GeiGei, and Shelby went onto my other nails. When the nimbuses were done drying, I topped everything with top coat. Finally, I added a pink ribbon water decal by to my accent nail. Enjoy! :)

Indie Spotlight: Nut

I have another beautiful polish by daphine polish today! This gorgeous polish is called Nut and it's a deep navy blue chock full of purple and holographic glitter. This polish looks like the night sky and it is simply amazing. As usual with daphine polishes, Nut went on smoothly and the results were perfect. I did two coats of Nut on its own with one coat of top coat. A full size of this beauty runs for $10 and can be purchased through the links above! Enjoy! :)

Halloween Nails: Glowing Water Marble

I found myself needing some luck yesterday and I always water marble when I need luck! :) I really wanted to water marble with China Glaze's Ghoulish Glow, an awesome glow in the dark polish they sent me, so I gave it a shot! Let me tell you, this polish is NOT made for water marbling! So, Plan B took shape!

I polished my nails with two coats of white polish. Then, I polished one coat of Ghoulish Glow over the white. Once that was dry, I water marbled OPI Atomic Orange and CLEAR POLISH over the top of Ghoulish Glow! HA, take that water marble! That'll teach you to try and kick MY butt! Muah-hahaha! ;)

Anyway, this is how it turned out! I love it! It looks phenomenal in the dark, too! And it brought me the luck I needed because everything went perfectly yesterday! ;) Enjoy! :)

Indie Spotlight: Fountain of Youth

Glitter Guilty just keeps bringing on the beautiful polishes! Fountain of Youth is a sea green jelly base with large holo turquoise circle glitter, smaller green circle glitter, and super fine iridescent shimmer. As is to be expected, the larger circles required a bit of fishing. They weren't hard to "catch" though, and like most large glitter, they were totally worth fishing for! I did three coats of this for the coverage I got. However, you could always layer this jelly over a base color and use fewer layers! And I just love the iridescence in this gorgeous polish! AMAZING! This polish is $8 and can be purchased through Glitter Guilty! Enjoy! :)

Pixie Dust Breast Cancer Awareness Nails

I have my favorite BCA nail art yet to show you guys! I adore these nails! I received lots of compliments and these wore so well!

I began with two coats of ellagee Hope, a beautiful carnation pink holo made for Breast Cancer Awareness! Then, I used Zoya Pixie Dust in Arabella and Tomoko to draw on a random line design. I used an orange stick and dipped it in a blob of polish I put on a piece of paper. I began with a ribbon on my accent nail. Then, I drew a curvy line of Arabella down the middle of each nail. I then began filling in with random lines with Tomoko. I continued alternating the Pixies until I didn't have any room left! Here's what I ended up with! Enjoy! :)

Indie Spotlight: Daphine Polish

I have a new brand to share with you guys today! This is my first experience with and it definitely won't be my last! Daphine Polishes go for $10 and they are smooth and so easy to work with! I love them! And the fact that these polishes are based on Daria, well, the middle schooler in my just adores that!

First up is Go Lions, a yellow jelly polish with blue glitter and white rectangular glitter, named for the mascot of Daria's school. Since this polish is a jelly, it's reaaaaaaally sheer. I decided to do two coats over one coat of white! I love how it turned out!

I polished two coats over one coat of Zoya Yummy. This one had just as flawless of a formula as Go Lions! Enjoy! :)

BCA Dotticure

Ready for my next set of Breast Cancer Awareness nails? These are more subtle in that they don't have ribbons on them...I just went with white and a holographic pink!

I began with two coats of Zoya Purity. When that was dry, I taped it off in a triangular fashion and polished on ellagee's It's a Gas Gas Gas! Not only is this polish holographic but it also has tiny gold holographic glitter in it! Ah-mazing! I polished It's a Gas Gas Gas into the triangular area and then pulled the tape off immediately. Next, I added random white dots with my larger and smaller dotting tool. I added pink dots into the larger white dots and this is what I ended up with! I love these nails and they received a lot of compliments! My little crested gecko even liked them! Enjoy! :)

Indie Spotlight: ILNP Birefringence

PICTURE HEAVY!!

I'm sure some of you have seen the new Ultra Chromes by I Love Nail Polish. They are really gorgeous polishes that shift to so many colors, the term duochrome doesn't fit these at all! :o

I decided to purchase Birefringence. It seemed to speak to me the most out of all of them and it also seemed to have the most significant color shifts! ILNP says that you can see shifts from blue, purple, red, orange, yellow, and green in Birefringence! AMAZING!

This polish is truly and fantastically beautiful! I was amazed by the shifts...I couldn't stop staring at my nails! Sadly, this polish chips super quickly! I wore this polish for just one day before I had several significant chips happen. I have spoken with three other nail polish addicts and they also experienced quick chipping. However, that could just be an experience the four of us shared. Either way, this polish is delightful! I'm really pleased with how well these photographs turned out! I even took some underwater! Enjoy! :)

Now, back to the regularly scheduled blog post!

FALL! I ADORE Fall! It's my favorite season, hands down. It's usually nicely chilly, perfect for jeans, sweaters, boots, pumpkin patches, apple orchards, and colorful foliage. Ahhhh, I just love Fall and I'm so happy to be enjoying my first Fall in seven years! It has been warmer than usual but fantastic nonetheless.

So, I decided to do some Fall nails! I began with a base of Zoya Jacqueline topped with one coat of Zoya Gaia to give my nails a subtle gold shimmer. I then sponged Zoya Channing, Isla, and Tanzy in a random, tree-ish way. Finally, I added some tree branches using Zoya Angelina and a thin nail art brush! Enjoy! :)
